Ellen Leidl Oil Paintings
The beauty of form in nature
The landscape of Montana, dominated by sky and bordered by mountains and open prairie is reflected and expressed through my oil painting.
The solitude and wide spaces have led to an artistic experience that is centered by the natural world, while also giving expression to a shared reality: earth energy, in all of its myriad personas and manifestations.
Originally from Victoria, and Vancouver, British Columbia, Ellen has been living and working in Montana since the mid 1990’s.
Ellen’s work in oil painting is both influenced by, and is a refection of, the wild, isolated, often sparse, but always living and moving landscapes she has lived in. Prairie and high plain landscapes dominated by sky and bordered by mountains and far reaching grasslands.
Northern landscapes ruled by vast open areas, yet alive with rivers and lakes. Coastal landscapes, both western and eastern, flowing with the power of oceans.
The energy of land, sea and sky: an energy that underlies all life and instills in us an appreciation of the mystery of the earth and our deep connection to its ever changing and ever constant renewal is the focus of her work and expression.
